The "VW 88" embossing confirms the origin and production year 1988; the end cap with the VW signet and the lettering "Eileen Gray" confirms that it belongs to this historic edition. The Vereinigte Werkstätten versions are regarded as early, high-quality re-editions of Gray's iconic design, valued for their solid workmanship, precise chrome work and faithful reproduction of the original - evidence of a formative phase in European design history immediately before the exclusive manufacturing rights were handed over to ClassiCon in 1990.
